Kindergarten Manager

Qualified teacher and Forest School trainee

Pilar is a true natural with younger learners and understands how young children learn through play and hands-on experience.

"I have been working with children from the age of sixteen, sharing experiences, learning from them and guiding their learning. To further my career I achieved a degree in Early Childhood Education and I am currently studying Level 3 to become a Forest School Leader.

In 2015 I came to England from Spain to experience more childcare opportunities. I have 4 years of experience in a Forest School Nursery. The forest school ethos and principles are just what I strongly believe in. When I was studying at university to become a preschool teacher, I wasn’t sure about willing to be part of the traditional education that regular settings provide. I always dreamt about being part of a place that gives the opportunity to work with children outdoors, to start the teaching-learning process from the infants´ interests and to guide their learning in a holistic way. From my point of view, this is the best way to achieve significant learning and this is just what we do in Out There

In my free time, I love sports, travelling, walking in the countryside and experiencing nature. I have a positive outlook, lots of energy and enjoy being creative.

I am so happy to be a part of the Out There team and look forward to sharing new experiences and encouraging creativity with the children."

David Garcia Jaramirllo

Qualified teacher and Forest School trainee

David only works with us on Mondays as he pursues his Steiner work and training. He is wonderful at engaging the children in a creative and fun way and has many songs up his sleeve, entertaining the whole team.

Hola, I am David Garcia. I am originally from the south of Spain, Cadiz, but currently, living in Bristol for many years.

I studied at Granada University in Spain to become a Primary Teacher and Psycho-Pedagogue. I have been working with young children and teenagers and other people in diverse education and social care areas in various cities in the south of Spain.

Once I moved to Bristol, I realised how amazing the surrounding forests, parks and green areas were. It's a fantastic place for the children to play in and watch the different seasons all year around.

I moved to Fishponds to work in the Steiner Academy, then finished my training as a Steiner Kindergarten Teacher.

Working with children is my passion. Connecting them with nature and the Steiner curriculum makes my job a real gift to enjoy. I like working with my home-schooling group, where I am their tutor for a few days a week.

Actually, I am finishing Forest School Leader (Level 3). Soon, I will start my Steiner Primary Teacher Training, a two-year journey to grasp more about this curriculum. Also, I will be learning further about using the knowledge of Permaculture with children through different activities to take care of our dear Mother Earth.

Early Years Practitioner

I have been passionate about nature and being outdoors from an early age, exploring the rock pools in Pembrokeshire, where I grew up, and enjoying many camping trips with my family in all weather.

While volunteering for the Wildlife Trust, I became aware of Forest School and immediately knew I had to begin training. As a Level 3 Forest School leader, I have gained so much experience facilitating time in nature with children, and I love the freedom and wonder that learning outdoors can bring. I have a Textile Design degree, so I am always looking to combine my creativity with Forest School to provide fun learning opportunities. I'm excited to continue this with Out There.

Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprentice

“Ever since I was a child, I have always loved playing and exploring outside. I feel passionate about sharing that love with my two wonderful children. Whether that’s putting on our wellies and going for a wild, wet walk or making magical mud potions in the garden (the messier, the better!) I always find our most imaginative and engaging play is when we’re all outside. I feel that now more than ever, supporting children to be part of their natural environment is paramount. When I’m not out exploring with my family, my other passions are music, especially singing. I’ve always found music such an incredible way to learn, share, explore and express. My other interests are making, baking, crafting, and painting. I’m so excited to start at Out There, share my interests and experiences, and learn and grow from all the amazing children and staff there too!”
