Important Information: Holiday Club

how to find us

Directions to our Holiday Club at Eastwinds Activity Centre, St Anne’s Terrace, BS4 4DY

Please note that there is no parking on St Anne's Terrace or at East Winds. The road is narrow and steep so please don't drive your car down. We advise you to park on St Anne's Park Road or Wick Road and walk down St Anne's Terrace.

Follow the steep lane down past the terraced houses. You'll find East Winds Activity Centre  on your left at the bottom of the hill. You will see the big green gates at the entrance and our 'Out There' sign.

Polite notice: Please park on the main road and walk down.  We want to respect our neighbour’s privacy and keep noise and traffic to a minimum.  Thank you for your co-operation.

ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE

Please make sure your child arrives in outdoor clothing suitable for the weather forecast as they will be outside for the majority, if not all, of the day. Except on very hot days, we ask that children wear waterproof overalls on arrival and either wellington boots or covered toed, waterproof sandals. This means that on arrival they are almost ready to go to the woods and can get involved in any water play activities. For more info, see ‘what to wear’ below.

On arrival, a member of the team will welcome you at the main gate and sign your child in for the day on our famly app. We encourage all parents to drop their child off at the gate. This is especially important during the current climate as our current policy states no parents are allowed on site unless by special arrangement.

Once on site, children are further greeted by a member of the team who will help settle them in. They will place their belongings in an allocated ‘box’ (to share with one other child). In addition to a box for their belongings, pegs are available to hang up coats/extra clothes on in the colder, wetter months.

You can collect any time between 15.30 and 17.30 unless by special arrangement. If there is no one at the main gate, please give the horn a honk and someone will come to the gate.

Only nominated people listed as a contact on famly will be allowed to collect your child.  Please inform us before if you need someone else to pick up your child.  If they’re not on famly as a contact, we’ll need them to have a collection password which we will agree between us.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

These can be found here.  Please keep in mind that the policies apply to both our Kindergarten and holiday club. Some parts may not be relevant for the holiday club but the majority will apply.

We ask that you read the policies and then check to say you have read them. please sickness reporting policy.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

With infection rates on the rise, we are still taking extra precautions when it comes to Covid.

We will no longer be splitting the splitting the group or operating ‘bubbles’ based on age or school attending for example.

We have an enhanced cleaning schedule in place and certain procedures that help us be covid secure.

We ask that during this time parents do not come on site but drop off and collect at the main gate. Children will be asked to use hand sanitizer or wash their hands on arrival.

Please make sure that you do not send your child in if they are ill. It is very important they do not attend if they have a raised temperature, continuous cough, are unable to eat or have a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. Do not send your child if they have a continuous cough.

Please only bring essential items in for your child.

If your child has been told to isolate and can no longer attend, we will follow our usual cancellation policy except in the instance we can fill your place in which case you will be offered a full refund. You must provide evidence of notification to isolate.

CONTACT NUMBERS

We will share the contact numbers with you via famly or email should you wish to get in touch on the day.

Please note, the reception at the scout hut and in the woods isn't great. Please bare with us if we don't pick up and leave a message so we can get back to you.

If you wish to speak to the registered person of Out There Forest School and Kindergarten, please call on 07948 674811.

toileting

There are children’s toilets on site at the scout hut which children can use independently or supported by an adult, depending on their age. In the woods, we set up a toilet tent which is away from the main play area. The toilet tent allows children to use the travel potty. We also support children to wild wee if this is their preference. You can read more in our toileting policy.

ticks

We have had several reported cases of ticks being found on children when they return home. It’s something you need to be aware of.  It is one of the reasons we ask that children wear long trousers and a long sleeved top. Please check your children when they get home.  They like warm dark places so check under the arm pits and the groin area.  Follow this link for advice http://www.bada-uk.org/correct-tick-removal
